A gentle path home

How adoption works at Little Oak

There’s no rush and no pressure here — just a warm, honest process designed to help you feel completely confident before a puppy ever joins your family.

1

Send your inquiry

It all begins with a friendly message. Use our contact form to introduce yourself, share a little about your home and family, and let us know what you’re hoping for. There’s no commitment — just the first hello.

2

Let’s have a conversation

We’ll reply and arrange a relaxed, no-pressure chat. This is your chance to ask anything — about the breed, our care, timing, or daily life with a Coton — and for us to get to know you a little better.

3

Find your perfect match

Every puppy has a personality all their own. Together, we’ll consider temperament, energy, and your lifestyle to thoughtfully match you with the little one who’ll fit your family beautifully.

4

Prepare for the big day

While your puppy finishes growing and socializing with us, we’ll send updates and helpful guidance so your home is calm, safe, and ready. We’ll walk you through everything you need.

5

Bring your puppy home

The moment you’ve been waiting for. Your puppy goes home gently prepared, with a care guide and everything needed for a smooth start — and our ongoing support is just a message away.

Good questions

Frequently asked questions

A few of the things families often wonder about before reaching out.

Wonderfully so. Cotons are gentle, affectionate, and eager to please, which makes early training and bonding feel natural. Their adaptable, people-focused nature is a big part of why they are such a beloved choice for first-time owners and families alike.

Yes — their soft, cotton-like coat sheds very little, which many allergy-prone households find much easier to live with. The trade-off is regular gentle grooming to keep that coat free of tangles, which also happens to be a lovely bonding ritual.

We pay close attention to each puppy\u2019s emerging temperament — from calm and cuddly to bright and playful — and pair that with what you share about your home, energy level, and daily routine. The goal is a match that feels effortless for everyone.

Puppies stay with us until they are at least eight weeks old and developmentally ready. Those early weeks of socialization and gentle care matter enormously, so we never send a puppy home before they are truly prepared.

That is perfectly fine. Many families reach out simply to learn more or to plan ahead for a future litter. We are always happy to answer questions and keep you in mind when the timing feels right for you.

Always. Our relationship doesn\u2019t end at pickup day. Whether you have a question about grooming, feeding, or simply want to share an update, we are here for the life of your dog — that is a promise we take seriously.
